Mark J. Schmerge, ChCF, Investment Advisor, manages client assets with two very important objectives:
1. To optimize your returns
2. To manage the risk of investing, by striving to preserve your principal and gains when markets fall.
To do so, I use ACTIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT. The purpose of this website is to help you understand what is meant by that phrase and
how it impacts client portfolios.
My approach to investing recognizes that investors face very different challenges than any decade in the past. Government deficits, a slow growth economy, record low interest rates, and the potential for deflation or inflation -- depending upon your economist of choice, are changing the world as we know it. ACTIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT takes the principles of Modern Portfolio Theory – developed in the 1950s for a very different financial environment – and applies them to the current equity markets with an active component.
The bear markets of the last decades have clearly demonstrated the need for ACTIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT with its emphasis on risk management. If you are retired or close to retirement, we both know you can’t afford to wait years for your investments to recover from the latest decline. ACTIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT offers you an alternative way to invest in equities without 100% exposure to down markets. Realizing that clients often need help with aspects of their financial lives beyond the investment portfolio, I have built a referral team of attorneys, accountants, financial planners and other professional advisers that I work with on an as needed basis to bring a comprehensive approach to your financial situation. With that, I would like to welcome you to my site and to an investment approach that could change your financial future.
